The Australian Government has officially confirmed South Australia’s state nomination allocations for the 2025–2026 General Skilled Migration (GSM) program, opening new opportunities for skilled workers seeking permanent or provisional migration pathways.

With strong demand for skilled professionals across priority industries, South Australia’s new allocation offers promising prospects for both onshore and offshore applicants.

South Australia’s 2025–26 Skilled Migration Allocations

South Australia has received more than 2,000 skilled visa nomination places for the new program year. Including interim allocations, the totals are:

  • 1,350 nominations for Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated Visa)

  • 900 nominations for Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa)

These allocations reflect the state’s strategic focus on attracting skilled migrants who can support long-term economic growth, regional development, and critical workforce needs.

Registrations of Interest (ROI) Now Open

Applications are now open for Registrations of Interest (ROI) from skilled migrants living and working in South Australia.

Onshore applicants should ensure they meet the eligibility requirements before submitting an ROI, as South Australia assesses candidates based on factors such as:

  • Skills and occupation demand

  • Employment in South Australia

  • Length of residency

  • Level of qualifications and experience

Offshore applicants do not need to submit an ROI.Instead, they will be invited directly from their Expression of Interest (EOI) lodged in SkillSelect if they meet South Australia’s criteria.

How to Apply

Before submitting your ROI, applicants should carefully review the eligibility criteria for all relevant streams to ensure they meet the requirements. Detailed instructions on preparing and submitting an application can be found on South Australia’s How to Apply page.
