At Synergy Migration Services, we are serious about privacy and the security of your information. As a regulated Australian service provider, we are bound by the Privacy Act 1998 (Cth) and the National Privacy Principles (“NPPs”). A copy of the Australian Privacy Principles may be obtained from the website of The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.asic.gov.au. We are committed to protecting the personal information that we hold about you.

Personal Information ​

Synergy Migration Services only collects personal information that is reasonably necessary for us to provide you with our services. The kind of personal information we collect and hold will depend upon the type of services that you request from us and may include: your name, date of birth, address, contact details and relevant identification documents including immigration information.

You may provide basic information such as your name, phone number, address and email address to enable us to send information, provide updates and process your product or service order. We may collect additional information at other times, including but not limited to, when you provide feedback, when you provide information about your personal or business affairs, change your content or email preference, respond to surveys and/or promotions, provide financial or credit card information, communicate with our customer support on consultations, assessments online, by telephone, by email, via our website, from partner’s websites in which we have dedicated pages, from media and publications, from other publicly available sources, from cookies, from social media and from third parties. We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties.

Additionally, we may also collect any other information you provide while interacting with us.​

Collection of Personal Information

Synergy Migration Services collects personal information from you in a variety of ways, including:

  • directly from you (including via your advisers), such as when you provide the information by phone, email or in a form;

  • from other migration agencies where permitted by law; and

  • from third parties as required in order to fulfil our duties to you as your service provider.

Use of Personal Information

​Synergy Migration Services may use personal information collected from you to provide you with information, marketing, updates and our services. We may also make you aware of new and additional products, services and opportunities available to you. We may use your personal information to improve our products and services and better understand your needs:

  • to verify your identity or transactions which you may enter into with us;

  • to administer and manage the provision of our services;

  • to respond to queries, complaints or to provide you with our general customer services;

  • to provide relevant immigration related agencies of your relevant information as required;

  • to provide you with offers of other Synergy Migration Services's services;

  • to provide you with offers from organisations with whom we have an alliance;

  • to comply with Synergy Migration Services’s risk management policies and procedures; or

  • to train our staff.

We will not, however, use your personal information other than for:

  • a purpose you would reasonably expect;

  • a purpose required or permitted by law; or

  • a purpose otherwise authorised by you.

We may disclose your personal information to any of our employees, officers, insurers, professional advisers, agents, suppliers or subcontractors insofar as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy. 

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information. Sensitive information will be used by us only:

  • for the primary purpose for which it was obtained; 

  • for a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose;

  • with your consent; or where required or authorised by law.

Third Parties

We do not and will not sell or deal in personal or customer information. We will never disclose your personal details to a third party except the necessary information required by providers of products or services you have purchased or to protect the rights, property or safety of The Migration Agency, our customers or third parties or if required by law.

We may however use in a general sense without any reference to your name, your information to create marketing statistics, identify user demands and to assist it in meeting customer needs generally. In addition, we may use the information that you provide to improve our website and services but not for any other use.

We may from time to time need to disclose personal information to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, in the course of a legal proceeding or in response to a law enforcement agency request.

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances, we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

By providing us with personal information, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the types of disclosure covered by this Policy. Where we disclose your personal information to third parties, we will request that the third party follow this Policy regarding handling your personal information.

Storage and Security 

Synergy Migration Services stores personal information in a combination of computer storage facilities, paper-based files and other records. We will take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Your personal information will not be sold to anyone.

Once personal information is no longer required to be retained, it is either destroyed or permanently de – identified.

Changes in Privacy Policy

As we plan to ensure our privacy policy remains current, this policy is subject to change. We may modify this policy at any time, in our sole discretion and all modifications will be effective immediately upon our posting of the modifications on this website.
