The New South Wales (NSW) Government has officially announced the interim allocation for the 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program, as provided by the Department of Home Affairs.

Interim Allocation

For this program year, NSW has received the following allocations:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 200 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 180 places

Upcoming Invitation Round for Subclass 190

An invitation round for the NSW nomination (Subclass 190 visa) is scheduled to take place next week while the state awaits its full allocation. To improve your chances of selection, applicants are encouraged to keep their SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) up to date and ensure that supporting documentation is valid and ready to submit when invited.

The NSW Government continues to align with the Australian Government’s migration priorities under the NSW State Migration Plan. This plan aims to attract and retain skilled professionals to strengthen key sectors, such as:

  • Construction (infrastructure and housing)

  • Net Zero and Energy Transition

  • Care and Support Economy

  • Digital and Cyber

  • Agriculture and Agrifood

  • Advanced Manufacturing

These sectors reflect the growing demand for skilled workers to support NSW’s development goals, including boosting the care economy and expanding housing capacity.

Updated NSW Skilled Occupation Lists

NSW has also released its 2025–26 Skilled Occupation Lists, published at the ANZSCO unit group level. Separate lists are available for both:

  • Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa

  • Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional Visa

Only occupations listed within an eligible ANZSCO unit group will be considered for NSW nomination. Applicants whose occupations are not listed will not be eligible for invitation.

At this stage, Subclass 491 visa applications (all pathways) are temporarily closed to new applicants. Updates will be provided once the program reopens.
